A Perfect Getaway for Rest and Rejuvenation
After an intense tour of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, I decided to spend a few days in Sihanoukville to unwind and relax. For my transportation from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, I used the same driver who had accompanied me during my Siem Reap and Phnom Penh trips. His friendliness and helpfulness made traveling much more comfortable. His familiarity with the area also meant that I received great recommendations for places to visit, adding more value to my stay. The serene atmosphere of this coastal city was precisely what I needed to recharge my batteries. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel so much that I decided to extend my stay for three more days, soaking in the tranquil environment and letting my stress melt away.
Sihanoukville: A City Under Chinese Influence
Sihanoukville is notably influenced by Chinese culture and businesses. Many of the hotels in the area also feature casinos, making it a popular destination for those looking to combine relaxation with entertainment. Upon arrival at the Queenco Hotel & Casino, I quickly realized that payments could only be made in cash, not by card. Thankfully, the nearby ATM allowed for higher withdrawal amounts, making the process easier. When extending my stay, the hotel staff advised me to use Booking.com for payment, as this would allow me to use my card. This tip made extending my relaxing vacation even more convenient.
A Day Trip to a Local Waterfall
One of the highlights of my time in Sihanoukville was a half-day trip to a nearby waterfall. This scenic spot was a favorite among the locals, who would come to bathe, relax, and enjoy the natural surroundings. There were small stalls set up where visitors could purchase food and drinks, adding to the laid-back atmosphere. Music played in the background as people lounged by the water, creating a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The waterfall provided a refreshing break from the city and offered a glimpse into the natural beauty of Cambodia.

Comfortable Accommodation with Sea View: The Perfect Stay
During my stay, I enjoyed a Deluxe Sea View King Room that was both clean and comfortable. The view from the room was pleasant, offering a serene perspective of the ocean. I also appreciated the hotel’s room service and food delivery options, which made it easy to enjoy delicious meals without leaving my room. These conveniences added an extra touch of comfort to my stay, making it even more relaxing. Having access to room service meant that I could unwind completely, knowing that all my needs were taken care of.
Convenient Transportation to Explore the City
My hotel was situated on the beach, slightly on the outskirts of the city. To explore more of what Sihanoukville had to offer, I opted to take a taxi into the city center. Here, I found a small shopping mall with various stores and a highly affordable yet quality cinema. This combination of modern amenities and cultural charm made exploring the city an enjoyable experience.
Limited Evening Entertainment Options
However, one drawback was the lack of activities around the hotel in the evening. If you are looking for some action or nightlife, you would need to take a taxi to the city center. Unfortunately, finding a taxi can be challenging due to the limited English proficiency of drivers in Sihanoukville. Planning your transportation in advance is advisable to avoid any inconvenience.
Enjoying the Hotel’s Excellent Gym Facilities
Back at the hotel, one of my favorite amenities was the gym. It was spacious, well-equipped, and provided a great environment to maintain my fitness routine while traveling. Having access to such a high-quality gym added an extra layer of comfort and satisfaction to my stay.
Sihanoukville offered the perfect blend of relaxation, entertainment, and local culture. Whether you’re looking to relax by the beach, enjoy a day trip to natural attractions, or explore the city’s shopping and entertainment options, Sihanoukville has something for everyone.
